When life becomes difficult, adults may lack the necessary support and knowledge to properly care for children.
In such cases, the community comes to support parents so they have the strength to provide children with care.

For example, assistance with employment, psychological support, accompaniment during inclusive education, or day care for a child with a disability.
High-quality, accessible, and inclusive social services
help families care for children and create a safe, healthy environment for them. They also prevent children from being placed in institutions when their families are experiencing difficult circumstances, or help them return to their families.
What social services are available for families with children?
Every person and every family is unique, as are the life situations we may find ourselves in. Therefore, social workers assess each family’s needs individually, create a service provision plan, and provide professional support throughout the process of resolving difficulties.
How to receive a service?
Check available services for your community on the Ministry of Social Policy, Family, and Unity of Ukraine.
Contact the social protection authority at your place of residence/stay, Social Services Centre, or Administrative Services Centre.
Submit the relevant application and collect the required set of documents.
Apply for a service through the electronic account on the social portal of the Ministry of Social Policy, Family, and Unity of Ukraine.
Important!
Each service is provided at the discretion of the structural unit responsible for social protection of the population. Together with specialists, the following steps must be completed:

Identify individual needs
Before providing a service, specialists have to assess the needs of the individual or family.

Develop an individual plan
Based on the family needs assessment, specialists develop or revise an individual plan. In this document, they outline activities to be carried out within the service provision, including the frequency, implementation deadlines, and the people responsible.

Conclude an agreement
A written agreement for the provision of a social service is concluded between the service provider and the recipient or their legal representative. If there is no legal representative, the agreement is signed by a representative of the guardianship and custody authority.
What if the service is not available in your community?
Do not be discouraged if a required service from the list is not yet available in your community. Submit an application to the social protection authority and declare your need. Declaring your need is important, as it helps social protection authorities plan the development of services required by community residents.
